USDA Awards Purdue Extension Farm Connect

As part of a $386,556 award to seed 5 food hubs across Indiana, Purdue University and Indiana University include the Fresh Local Food Collaborative with Food and Growers Assocation to service the Southeastern portion of the state.  
procure a central location that allows us to collect, clean, inventory, package, and prepare for distribution all types of locally produced food. 

In addition, value added production equipment like commercial flash freezing and production lines to bottle local harvests will be available to the public.   Farmer training will also be a huge part of this project.  Stay tuned for more information.
In October of 2018, the USDA announced their latest awards for the highly competitive Local Food Promotion Program and Indiana won in a big way!  

This program will offer technical assistance and budget infusions to five locations around the state in an effort to increase the production of Specialy Crops in Indiana.
These products are defined by the USDA as “fruits and vegetables, tree nuts, dried fruits, horticulture, and nursery crops (including floriculture).”   Across Indiana, efforts are ongoing to create a Value Chain Nework to move local foods from production to consumption.   The Fresh Local Food Collaborative of Dearborn County in partnership with Food and Growers Association of Ripley County, will
